James Randall “Jim” Harris, 67, of Richmond, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 9, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born on December 28, 1954, at their home in Hardin, the son of Lloyd and Mary Alice (Pennell) Harris, Sr.  He was united in marriage to his loving wife Teresa Kay (Trout) Harris of Richmond on May 22, 1976; she preceded him in death on April 22, 2018.

Born of this marriage are 3 children, Kimberly Evonne Campbell and Dean of Braymer, Rebecca Kay Harris of Carrollton, Jeremy Randall Harris and Judy of Hale, and adopted son, Matthew Ridenour and Jennifer of Hale.  Jim has 10 grandchildren: James, Ruby, Raymond, Haylie, Skyla, Trinity, Alyssa, Rayanna, Tabitha, and Wesley.  He loved his grandkids dearly.  Jim was going to be a great-grandfather for the first time, as James is expecting his first born in June of this year. Jim is also survived by 5 siblings: Raymond Harris, Jr. and Carol of Rushville, Johnny Harris of Joplin, Susy Hartman and Jewell of Norman, OK, Nancy Root and Larry of Lexington, and Joe Harris and Julie of Hardin, brother-in-law, Larry Hartman of Norman, OK.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Mary Ann Hartman, brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Fran Harris, half-brother, David Blackford, sister-in-law, Lorraine Harris, and nephew, Randy Hartman.

Jim was a member of Richmond Assembly of God Church.  He rededicated his life to Christ and was rebaptized on January 5, 2020.  He shared his love for Christ in all that he did and was able to share with many people during his 30+ years of working at Scott’s Bargain Barn in Wood Heights.  He greeted everyone with his smile that would light up a room.  Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, fishing, hunting, visiting family and friends, listening to old music, and reading.  Jim will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the many stories that will be shared though family and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the James Harris Memorial Fund.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Hardin Christian Church.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in Hardin Cemetery.  Please remember to share your memories of Jim with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
