Helen Pauline (Wagaman) Davis, 94, of Richmond died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at her residence.

Helen was born on May 19, 1926, in Kansas City, the daughter of John Henry Wagaman and Mamie Pauline Pugh. She married Bernard D. Davis on Aug. 18, 1944, who preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2004.

Helen had been a resident of Ray County since July 1974.

Family survivors include: three sons, Michael D. Davis of Excelsior Springs, Thomas J. Davis of rural Ray County and Joel D. Davis of Pasadena, California; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Harold Paul Wagaman.

Helen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which she joined through baptism on Oct. 2, 1954. She served in the congregation through much of her adult life, as health and circumstances allowed.

She was a devoted wife to her husband of 60 years, and both served as devoted parents to their family. They worked together to teach their children responsibility, thrift and upright behavior.

She was always supportive of her children in their church, school and work activities. She took pleasure in her involvement with her grandchildren and communication with them, even though some of them lived in distant locations. She was a good manager of the household, the finances and related affairs, which always proved to be a benefit to the family. Some of those skills were inborn and some of them were developed during the difficult years of the Great Depression of 1930-40 and World War II, but she also was generous with what she owned and knew when a family member could benefit from a gift or financial help.

Helen passed away in her home, where one of her last wishes was that she be allowed to die in the peace and security of her home. She has gone to the world of spirits to await the resurrection of the dead, where all who have stepped to the other side will one day be raised to immortality at the command of God.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at noon and services to follow at 1 p.m.

Services will be live streamed on the Thurman Funeral Home Facebook page.

Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
