Eugenia Kay (Swafford) Scherlinger, 86, of Henrietta, died Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at River Bend Heights Rehabilitation Center in Lexington. 

Eugenia was born on June 11, 1935, in Ray County, the daughter of Fletcher Martin and Geneva Ella (Jones) Coffman.  She was first united in marriage to Donald Acree “Rooster” Swafford; he preceded her in death.  She was then united in marriage to Harry Joe Scherlinger; he also preceded her in death. 

Survivors include: several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brothers, Gerald Avery Coffman and Maurice Coffman. 

Eugenia graduated from Richmond High School in 1952.  She worked at Exchange Bank in Richmond.  Eugenia then worked at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center first as a bookkeeper, then she became an administrator, until her retirement.  After her retirement, she operated GG’s Country Pantry in Henrietta.
