Esther E. Simmons, 80, of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Esther was born on November 14, 1941, in Ray County, the daughter of Harry Lee and Alma Mae Compton Waller. Esther was united in marriage to Charles Lloyd Simmons of Norborne on June 6, 1959; he preceded her in death on May 2, 2018. Survivors include two daughters: Debi Lee and her husband Bucky of Richmond and Susan Hansen and her husband Chris of Overland Park, KS; four grandchildren: Aaron (Amy) Lee, Kristen (Landon) Dickey, Courtney (Matt) Graham and Lauren Hansen; four great-grandchildren: Caidric Dickey, Caysin Dickey, Ariel Lee and Parker Graham. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister and brother-in-law, Myrna and Carl Rowan. Esther was reared and educated in the Camden and Richmond area where she lived her entire life.  First attending school in Camden then graduating from the Richmond High School.  Esther worked for 25 years for the Exchange Bank in Richmond.  She then owned and operated Main Street Floral for eight years, until she sold the business.  Esther went back into banking and worked for the State Bank in Richmond for 14 years until she retired.  Esther was all about her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was easy to tell when visiting by all the pictures of her family in her home.  Esther and her husband loved to travel.  Esther loved to play the slot machines and she was good at it.  Her and her family made many trips to Las Vegas, she always came home a winner!  She also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.
