Darwin was raised and educated in the area of his birth, beginning his schooling at Dale-Patton Country School in Swanwick and later attending Richmond High School.
A gifted carpenter, builder and developer, Darwin made a lasting mark on Ray County with many of its beautiful homes built by his own hands. His dedication to his craft also extended to his work on the Rayville Christian Union Church, where his skill is reflected in the additions he helped create.
Alongside his building legacy, Darwin embraced the farming lifestyle. He enjoyed raising cutting horses and registered Limousin cattle, taking pride in his work with both.
An avid outdoorsman, Darwin loved quail and pheasant hunting, often accompanied by his German shorthaired pointers, which he bred and raised. His love of the land was something he shared wholeheartedly with his family, passing down his knowledge, skills and passion for outdoor life.
Darwin’s family holds many cherished memories of working and spending time with him, learning from his expertise and enthusiasm.
