Charles McCorkendale

Charles David McCorkendale, 92, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Charles was born July 8, 1931, in Lexington, the son of Arvel and Eva McCorkendale. He was united in marriage to Claudetta Narramore of Ray County on May 24, 1957. They were married for 66 years. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include two brothers, Robert Mc-Corkendale (Shirley) and Gary McCorkendale (Denice); and their children, Dian Mosier (Bob), Brenda Wilson (Gary), Pam Potter (Paul) and Bobby Paul (Linda). Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence McCorkendale; sister, Darlene Blood (Tom); and son, Eddie Paul.

Charles was reared and educated in the area of his birth and graduated from Camden High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War. Charles also worked for more than 42 years at Butler Manufacturing Co. in Kansas City.

He was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW and KMVA. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting and learning about various histories.

He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation and funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Richmond First Baptist Church, with the visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by the services at 10:30. Burial was to be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
