Beverly Ann (McSwain) Whalen, 63, of Fleming passed away on March 27, 2021, at Liberty Hospital.

Beverly was born on March 14, 1958, in Munice, Indiana, to Melvin and Wanda (Hampton) Henderson.

After the death of her father, she was adopted by James T. McSwain Sr. upon his marriage to her mother.

Beverly worked in the agricultural sector for most of her life, retiring from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 30 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, James Whalen, of the home; daughters, Tanya Harris (Jesse) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Heather Turner of Alamogordo, New Mexico; brother, James McSwain Jr. (Anesha), Arkadelphia, Ark.; stepdaughters, Tiffany Dow and Lindsey Frazier, Lee’s Summit; stepson, Aaron Whalen, Cedar Springs, Michigan; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Garrett Turner.

A celebration of life service was held at 1 p.m. April 10 at her home in Fleming. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
