Body

Amy Nichol Davis-Wiles, of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the age of 47, in her Richmond home.

Born September 29, 1974, in Independence, Missouri, daughter of William “Bill” and Alnita (Hansen) Davis.

Amy grew up an adventurer.  There was no tree she could not climb, no dare too scary, and no act too dangerous.  She had a great love of and empathy with all animals and her soft-hearted approach to their care led her to employment with several veterinarians and eventually, led her to found her own Animal Rescue. However, Amy was never one to tread water or get stuck in a rut.

When the adventuring itch struck again, Amy helped train the tech world as a roving trainer for the now defunct Gateway Computer Company.  Amy also interned as an executive assistant for a Vice President of Sprint, functioned as a health care worker not only for animals, but also in the human arena.  She was always helping her parents, Alnita and step-father, Larry Anderson, in their home- based tooth design, creation, and sculpting lab.  Amy was a skilled phlebotomist and was one class away from becoming a licensed nurse.  Her adventuring was only tempered by one thing, her need to care for and save the world, one person at a time (or all of them at once, sometimes).

Finally, she functioned in several legal practices, as a paralegal/legal assistant, in legal areas spanning Patent and Trademark Law, Real Estate Law, Litigation Preparation, Corporate Law, Criminal Law, and even briefly as a Work Comp and a Bankruptcy paralegal.

She met her husband, John, when she bested 200 other applicants for employment as his legal assistant in 2017.  The two grew to be inseparable, very quickly, and on August 13, 2021, Amy was united in marriage to John “Jay” N. Wiles, II, of West Plains, Missouri; John survives of the home.

The only thing larger than Amy’s sense of adventure, however, was her love for her family.  Her daughter, Kyla, and her grandson, Grayson, in particular.  No mother/daughter team was ever more powerful and with the addition of Grayson, Amy turned from a loving mother into a fierce protector of her clan.  Anyone who ever encountered Amy, only needs to have a short conversation with her daughter to see the impact she had on her daughter’s life, as well as on her grandson’s life.

Mrs. Davis-Wiles is also survived by her mother, Alnita Hansen, and husband, Bob, of Blue Springs, Missouri; daughter, Kyla Bleibaum, and grandson, Grayson Bauman, both of Grain Valley, Missouri; step-father, Larry Anderson, of West Plains, Missouri; sister, Angie Sullivan, and husband Matt of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; nephew, Logan Sullivan; niece, Erica Sullivan; five canines and two felines, who will never be the same without her presence nearby.

She was preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” Davis.

The family asks that all memorial contributions, in remembrance of Amy and in her name, be made to any charitable organization dedicated to educating the public about and raising awareness of mental illness.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Greenton Cemetery, 9679-9687 Greenton Road, Odessa, MO 64076.  Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of arrangements.  Please remember to share your memories of Amy with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
