The Ray County Prosecutor’s Office have dropped two charges against an Excelsior Springs woman accused of sexual abuse, narrowing the more than four-year-old case to seven felonies and one misdemeanor just weeks before trial. 

Desiree A. Alexander, 39, was originally charged with nine felonies and one misdemeanor in May 2022. Prosecutors filed amended information Aug. 20, marking two felony counts of abuse or neglect of a child nolle, leaving eight charges pending. 

Alexander now faces three counts of attempted first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, one count of first-degree sodomy, one count of incest and one misdemeanor count of first-degree sexual misconduct.
