RMS boys A team takes end-of-season tournament
Richmond’s middle school boys basketball A team found what coach
called “a great way to finish off the season.”
The way the young Spartans found to end their 2023-24 campaign was to pull out a 42-39 victory over Knob Noster Jan. 25 to cap an end-of-season tournament at Knob Noster.
With less than a minute left in the fourth quarter, Amos Farnan sank two foul shots to give the young Spartans a one-point lead, Calhoun stated Feb. 1 via email. Cale Moyer then helped seal it by sinking two foul shots with 13 seconds remaining. The shots made by Farnan and Moyer were part of a 16-for-19 foul shooting performance overall by the Spartans.
“It was a team win and everybody did their job,” Calhoun wrote. “Things came … (easily) to us for a lot of the year and we had to find a new way to win.”
Those who handled the job of leading Richmond in scoring included Jack Minton, who finished with 14 points and was one of two Spartans in double figures. Moyer finished with 10 points.
