A warrant has been issued for a Leavenworth woman who allegedly committed a crime in Excelsior Springs.
Melisa R. Nickols, 34, is facing two felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia for amphetamine or methamphetamine.
On November 3, 2023, Nickols was charged and then released on her own recognizance on November 20, 2023. She had attended all hearings until the most recent one, which was for an initial arraignment. Nickols’ public defender, Rebecca Abeln, requested a con- tinuance when her client did not appear, but Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Kevin L. Walden issued a failure-toappear warrant with a bond of $5,000.
