Democrat Jim Bates running unopposed in the August primary for U.S. Senate District six will face the republican winner of the April primary election. The Richmond News asked the candidate a few questions. BACKGROUND Bates: 57, of Liberty, has a Bachelor of Science from Missouri State University and is currently in insurance sales. CANDIDATE QUESTIONS What qualifications do you bring to the table that makes you suitable to be a state senator for District 21? I am the only candidate who is not a career politician. I am the only candidate who is not following an extreme agenda to distract from their party’s ability and not to bring positive change to Missouri. How will you address the dysfunction that affected the state senate last session? I am the only candidate who has vowed to lower taxes for every Missourian, to protect our public schools and to reward work over wealth.
