Two residents in race for Richmond road district seat
Two candidates have entered the race for a single seat on the Richmond Special Road District in the upcoming municipal election on April 7.
The candidates are Michael Douglas and Luke Covey.
Douglas, 79, is a longtime district resident and a retiree. He completed four years of college and previously served as secretary on the Richmond Planning and Zoning Board and as chairman of the Board of Zoning Adjustment. After 36 years of service, he retired from the Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor and engineer. He has been married to his wife, Linda, for 52 years, and they have two children and two grandchildren.
“I am running because I care about this community and I want to ensure our roads reflect the pride we have in where we live,” said Douglas.
To give voters a better understanding of candidates’ views, Richmond News requested all candidates respond to questions. Attempts to contact Covey using phone numbers provided by the Ray County Clerk’s Office were unsuccessful.
