RICHMOND – Ray County Presiding Commissioner Bob King agreed to appoint two people to the Law Enforcement Restitution Committee. King named Julie Nelson and Rachelle Berry to the committee. The committee is responsible for the distribution of restitution funds to the Ray County Sheriff and Prosecutor’s offices. Members meet only when there is money available and the sheriff or prosecutor seek funds for a project, King, a former board member, said. “Last year, the Prosecutor’s Office got a bunch of office supplies,” Eastern Commissioner Dave Powell said. “They were able to get a computer,” King said. Powell said the fund contains roughly $70,000. People who have committed an offense pay into the fund, he said. “It’s for law enforcement,” King said.
