Turkey Bingo returns to support local firefighters

Each November, the Richmond Fire Department’s truck bays transform into a lively community hall filled with laughter, friendly competition and the unmistakable spirit of giving. The annual Turkey Bingo fundraiser has become a small-town tradition drawing families together not just to play bingo but to support the firefighters who serve them year-round. This year’s event, the third annual, will be held Nov. 8 at the Richmond Fire Department. Food will be served beginning at 5 p.m. and bingo games will start at 6 p.m. Attendance last year reached nearly 100 people and organizers are hoping for an even bigger turnout this time. The event’s origins trace back to Richmond Fire Auxiliary member Charmaine Claypole who brought the idea to Richmond after seeing a similar event elsewhere. “I suggested this when I became a part of the Fire Auxiliary,” said Claypole. “I had got the idea from another fire department.
