Transitional housing ideas arise
The lack of transitional housing (TH) was the topic of one of the Ray County Commissioners meetings last week. TH provides temporary housing with supportive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness with the goal of interim stability, support to successfully move to and maintain permanent housing, according to www.hudexchange.info.
Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers and Reentry Solutions Nurse Case Manager Tobi Lackey talked about utilizing the Ray County Opioid Settlement monies for opening TH in Henrietta. There are currently trailers for sale near the jail and the county is working on purchasing those or finding another plot of land to use, said Childers.
