Spring play deemed success
Farris Theater’s annual spring play, “First Baptist of Ivy Gap,” was presented recently with cast and crew receiving kudos from their producer.
Play producer Opal Richardson discussed the result of the presentation, saying, “The ladies did a good job. A play relies on the cast remembering their lines and unlike a musical – where the story moves along with songs; a play is just lines. The ladies performed well and although we didn’t have a big audience, those who came were supportive, laughed and clapped.
“Thank you to those that came to watch. Mac did a wonderful job on the set and lights – he always does. Good job to both cast and crew,” she said.
Director McDavitt (Mac) Rogers chose the play, written by Ron Osborne, which focuses on six women gathering to roll bandages and plan the church’s 75th anniversary during World War II. The story begins in the 1940s and then jumps to the 1970s, following the women’s lives.
