Speed radar purchase approved by council
Richmond Police Chief Scott Bagley proposed the city purchase the Black Cat II Plus Radar Recorder with Jamar Technologies to collect data for speeding at the latest city council meeting. The council members unanimously agreed to make the $5,369 purchase of the radar.
“I’ve received complaints about speeding through town and we have no real way to see validity except for sitting officers out monitoring speeding,” said Bagley. “One of the things I have looked at and am creating a solution to allocate our resources is the Black Cat II Plus Radar Recorder with Jamar Technologies, Inc.”
Bagley said with the monitoring system, the department could collect accurate speed data before and after enforcement efforts. The data collected will be discrete, providing unbiased and accurate data which can be used to generate real and effective speed data reports before an officer ever has to spend valuable time at the site, he said.
