Southview Lake receives cleaning, makeover
Southview Lake in Richmond has received lots of attention the past few days, as renovations take place around its northern shoreline.
Work includes removing all underbrush, debris and trees, except ones marked to save; dredging the north end of the lake to remove vegetation and silt; grading the bank for drainage; lining the bank with rip-rap rock to prevent erosion; and clearing the north shoreline from the boat ramp on the west approximately 450 feet to the east side.
Macey Excavating is doing the work, winning the bid out of three request-for-proposal submissions received by the city of Richmond in April. Macey’s bid of $45,200 was the lowest of the three.
Funding for the project comes from the FY22 park budget. Originally, $35,000 was set aside for the lake’s improvements. The excess funds of $10,200 will come from savings from another park project that came in under budget.
