Slice of America Pie Contest celebrates community baking
As Richmond prepares to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary, a new baking contest will give local residents a chance to showcase their favorite fruit pie recipes.
The Richmond News will host the Slice of America Pie Contest during Richmond’s America 250 celebration on June 13. The contest highlights one of the country’s most recognizable traditions — homemade pie — while giving community members an opportunity to share their baking talents and compete for prizes. Bakers of all ages are invited to participate, with both adult and junior divisions available.
Richmond News General Manager Sharon Donat said organizers would like the contest to feel like a natural part of the community’s upcoming America 250 celebration.
