The Ray County Sheriff’s Department picked up the warrant entries on Tuesday after the Ray County 911 Board severed ties with the department in late September 2023. Between the two agencies, warrant entries and communications were not aligned. “The warrants were originally given to 911 when 911 was established in the 90s. The commissioners at the time put it on 911 dispatch to maintain,” said 911 Board Chairman Paul Harris. “Unfortunately things have changed, and it’s being transferred to the Sheriff’s department to take care of. It will be their responsibility on it, due to lack of follow through on their part.” According to the board’s September letter to Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers, the board will continue to maintain all software and hardware provided by 911 under all other agreements in place.
