SHERIFF PURSUIT
Pursuit of a suspect last week led by the Ray County Sheriff’s Office resulted in an apprehension – and a two-vehicle accident.
Cody Montez of Columbia is in custody in the Ray County Jail in Henrietta, Sheriff Scott Childers said during a Wednesday morning interview at the Richmond News offices. At press time, the county charges against Montez included four felonies – three counts of second-degree assault against a special victim, one count of resisting arrest, detention and/ or stop by fleeing, Missouri court records posted on Case.net state.
Montez reportedly fled after being approached June 21 in Henrietta by Ray County deputies, Childers said.
“We were contacted about a person being slumped over in a vehicle in Henrietta,” he said. “And so, deputies went out to check on the subject in the vehicle. When they made contact, the person was still conscious. And as they were trying to talk to him, he started reaching under his seat.”
