Seniors celebrated for plans beyond classroom
An effort at Richmond High School is placing new emphasis on students’ futures, highlighting the decisions seniors make as they prepare for life after graduation.
Richmond High School introduced Decision Day last year to recognize seniors for their post-secondary plans, giving students pursuing college or entering the workforce a chance to be celebrated in a setting similar to a traditional athletic signing. The event allows students to share their next steps alongside family and friends, while school staff highlights each student’s plans and achievements.
Richmond High School Registrar Jenny Burnett explained the idea behind the event is to ensure every student feels recognized during a milestone moment in their lives.
“We believe every student deserves to be celebrated,” said Burnett. “This is a very exciting time in these young adults’ lives and we want them to know we are proud of them and want to cheer them on.”
