Following the signing of Senior Property Tax Freeze Senate Bill (SB) 190 into law in 2023, Ray County Collector Julie Chowning recently released details on the program and the application process. SB 190 was officially signed into law in 2023. Later that year, in late November, Ray County Commissioners Dave Powell and Billy Gaines signed Court Order 2023-11-03. This court order specifically supports the implementation of SB 190 within Ray County. The property tax credit for Ray County will be frozen starting in 2024, allowing taxpayers to see the credit on their statement for the first time in 2025.
