School board hires firm
RICHMOND – The Richmond Board of Education is taking steps to improve facilities and instruction, Superintendent Greg Darling said.
“We’re going to do a long-term facility plan,” he said, “so that we keep current.”
The board voted to hire Hollis and Miller Architects, Kansas City, at a cost of $14,000 to provide a review as part of the district’s planning process.
“They’re going to come in and assess our facilities,” Darling said. “They’re going to have engineers and architects, and they’re going to do research.”
The board will not rely on Hollis and Miller alone during the assessment process.
“We’ll get different groups’ input of what vision they want for our facilities,” Darling said.
The city of Richmond is taking much the same approach in developing a comprehensive plan for the overall community.
“In the fall, we’re going to do the same thing,” Darling said, in terms of seeking input.
