Same farm bill, new decisions
The 2018 Farm Bill has been extended for one more year, now running through 2025. While many aspects of the bill remain unchanged, it’s worth revisiting the Title I elections this year. Farmers in Ray County should reconsider their past Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) elections for the 2025 crop year.
ARC provides payments when farm revenue falls below a predetermined guarantee based on historical data and current market conditions. On the other hand, PLC offers payments when the effective price for a commodity drops below a designated reference price. “Commodity price expectations are low for the upcoming crop year,” states MU Extension Ag Business Specialist Katie Neuner.
