Richmond Salvation Army prepares for crisis
The Richmond area Salvation Army crisis team displayed their canteen unit after its time in the shop. The canteen unit is used as an emergency vehicle that provides food, drinks and other rehabilitative services to emergency workers during extended incidents, according to firefightermedic. com.
“It has a full kitchen. If something were to happen, the crisis team would come out with the unit and assist with victims and first responders’ needs,” stated Richmond area Salvation Army director and New Beginnings Church Pastor Phillip Powers.
Powers showed the ins and outs of the vehicle. He explained the different needs it could provide to a crisis if necessary, such as extra seats, a place to cook, fridge, sink, etc.
“We have everything you’d need in an emergency vehicle,” he noted.
As Ray County Sheriff Chaplin, Powers takes the responsibility of first responders’ mental health, spirituality and safety into consideration. The canteen unit helps provide the services for the crisis team…
