Richmond Police officers join in on CAP activities
With giant human hamster balls and warm weather, Special Needs Services (SNS) of Ray County were ready to participate in the Community at Play (CAP) Bubble Ball event. Nearly 100 Ray Countians alike showed their support, including Richmond City Police Department (RCPD) officers, at Maurice Park.
SNS Director Suzan Breen wanted something different and new for this CAP event and believes it was a success. Youth and adults alike were able to join in the fun of rolling around in one of four hamster balls, as two were made specifically for adults.
“The crowd loved watching what people inside the hamster balls were doing. The community wants to use these at the Annual CAP Water Fight this July and asked us to buy more. The most frequent reaction was, ‘Is it my turn again?’” added Breen.
Breen also invited the local police to stop by for the excitement and was “pleasantly surprised” that a tenminute stop turned into the officers staying till the end, she said.
