Richmond Kiwanis has busy spring of public service
RICHMOND – The Richmond Kiwanis group is almost 100 years old.
“We continue to serve the children of Richmond and the world, one child at a time,” club member Bill Dooley stated.
On May 6 and 7, the club will have a booth at the Mushroom Festival.
“Our efforts will include sponsoring the Mother’s Day Baby Shower and a Silent Auction of sports memorabilia,” Dooley stated.
Monetary donations will help the club provide baby items for the Bridge of Hope and the GAP program.
“We plan to have items for the fans of the MIZZOU Tigers, KC Chiefs and the KC Royals. Come by our table and bid on your favorite items,” Dooley stated.
The profit from the silent auction will help fund the Kiwanis Terrific Kids program at the Dear and Sunrise elementary schools, and at the middle school.
“It will also help us to give scholarships to our graduating seniors and for our juniors going to Boys State and Girls State,” Dooley stated.
The club sponsored a movie night earlier this year for young children at the Farris Theatre.
“We plan to do this again in the future,” Dooley stated.
Donations help buy dictionaries Kiwanis shares with the third-graders at Sunrise and Hardin-Central elementary schools.
Kiwanis is the sponsoring organization for the Builder’s Club at the (Richmond) middle school and the Key Club at the high school.
“We are pleased to be a major contributor to the welfare of the children of our community,” Richmond Kiwanis Club President Randy Schreurs said. “We need the help of all to ensure that our kids are well cared for and have great enrichment programs. We also need the new ideas that new members bring to our club. Please consider joining us and helping with our service to the community.”
