Richmond council updates marijuana rules

Richmond’s marijuana rules have been updated to reflect changes in the Missouri Constitution. Richmond City Council members unanimously adopted an ordinance amending certain sections of the municipal code regarding both recreational and medical marijuana facilities. Local attorney John Mullane came before the council and said the revisions were to comply with the state constitution. The additions are still similar to when the medical marijuana planning and zoning ordinance was out. In its original form, Ordinance No. 23-25 gave definitions before the facilities under Article XIV of the Missouri Constitution. As updated, Ordinance No. 23-25 states it is to regulate the placement and licensing of facilities for the dispensing, selling, cultivating, transporting, manufacturing, storing, and testing of marijuana and marijuana- infused products, to the extent permitted by the Missouri Constitution, applicable statutes enacted by the General Assembly, and regulations promulgated by the…
