Richmond approves pool system upgrades, surplus sales
New computers and upgraded credit card terminals are coming to Richmond’s pool as the city works to improve security and update outdated systems.
The upgrades were approved by Richmond City Council members during a recent meeting and include replacing three pool computers, along with two Payment Card Industry (PCI)- compliant credit card terminals and their associated installations.
Finance Director Ashley Bennett explained the upgrades are necessary to address outdated equipment and meet current security standards.
“For fiscal year 2026, there was budget approval for one-time purchases for two pool computers and also to replace the two card terminals,” said Bennett. “However, since then, it’s been determined all three pool computers need to be replaced.”
She noted the existing systems no longer receive security updates, creating potential risks, and emphasized the importance of bringing both the computers and payment terminals into compliance with current standards.
