Richmond approves comprehensive parks master plan
The Richmond City Council unanimously approved a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan, laying out a 10-year vision for enhancing trails, park amenities and recreational opportunities.
Developed by Vireo Landscape Architecture and Planning, the plan serves as a strategic guide for future investment, programming and community engagement. Highlights include expanding trail networks, updating aging park facilities and creating new options for outdoor recreation.
Steve Rhodes, a principal with Vireo, presented the plan’s key findings during a recent council meeting. According to the study, Richmond currently has 13.8 acres of park land per 1,000 residents – enough to support a population of up to 8,400, outperforming many similar communities.
