Handicap accessibility has been a hot topic at Ray County Commissioners meetings in weeks past. A Rayville resident went before the group once more during a recent meeting, requesting parking restrictions be enforced at the Ray County Courthouse. Rayville resident Julie Nelson spoke to commissioners about handicap accessibility around the square and asked the commissioners to enforce parking restrictions for courthouse personnel. Nelson said half circle drive on the west side of the courthouse is blocked by the Ray County Sheriff’s Office vehicles. With vehicles there, it is a challenge for the disabled and elderly to get into the Ray County Courthouse, she said, noting courthouse personnel should park elsewhere out of “courtesy” of the county citizens. “Western Commissioner Gary Wilhite talked with the sheriff’s office and they are not to park in the west courthouse half circle drive unless they are transporting inmates for court and to drop off or pick up warrants that need to be…
