Rayville man released while facing assault, theft charges

A Rayville man has been released from custody while facing two felony charges connected to a reported gas station confrontation. Curtis Gene High, 37, is charged with felony third-degree domestic assault and stealing by physically taking. Additionally, in a separate case he is facing two misdemeanor charges of second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and second-degree property damage High recently appeared before Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Lori Jeanette Baskins, where the judge modified his bond conditions and approved his release on his own recognizance. He had previously been held on a $15,000 cash or 10% corporate surety bond with conditions, which included house arrest, electronic monitoring and no contact with the listed victim. During the hearing, he requested appointed counsel and submitted an application for representation through the Missouri State Public Defender system.
