Ray County 4-H youth excel at state contest
Several Ray County 4-H members have been recognized for their knowledge and performance during the Missouri 4-H State Hippology Contest held in Columbia.
The event, hosted by the University of Missouri (MU) Extension, drew 30 youth participants from across the state along with their coaches. The competition tested participants on topics including equine conformation, behavior, equipment, diseases, anatomy, terminology and characteristics, according to MU Extension State 4-H Agriculture Educator Kelsey Fuller.
Among the top competitors in the eight to 10-yearold category was Darcy Mae Bilbrey of Tri-County 2, who represented Ray
County.
In the junior division, Cheyenne Skaggs and Adeline Bilbrey, both of Tri-County 2, also earned recognition for their strong performances. Darcy Mae Bilbrey was additionally recognized as a top competitor in the junior age group, competing again as part of the Tri-County 2 team.
