Ray County 4-H horsemen win at State Fair competition
Participants in a sport that goes unnoticed by many in Ray County amid the heat of summer just returned from state competition at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.
The Guys and Gals 4-H Club horsemen, led by Whitney Marrant, headed to Sedalia July 29 and returned July 31 with many ribbons, great memories and stronger relationships with friends and their horses.
Debbie Davis, 4-H extension specialist and State Fair superintendent said: “Horsemanship is so different than any other project in 4-H. The bonds formed between the kids and their horses, friendships and families working together is so special and stands out here. These kids love their horses, and their families have made great commitments to support this long-term project. It is life-changing, and becoming a better horseman also means becoming a better person because a horse’s performance is just a reflection of his rider’s inner self.”
The 4-H, FFA Horseshow is held before the official start time of the fair, the last week…
