Ray considers new EMS director
RICHMOND – Hardin Fire Chief Malcolm Cunningham endorsed Hardin Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Dickey as EMS director to the Ray County Commission.
“He’s got experience with fire, he’s got experience with law enforcement,” Cunningham said. “I just came up to recommend him. I hope you would see fit to put him in this position.”
Presiding Commissioner Bob King talked about the transition with outgoing Director Carl Harper.
“Are you going to be able to assist him for a while?” King asked.
“I don’t see any other way around it,” he answered.
King said the county seeks an easy transition.
Dickey is in line to replace Harper.
“I’ve been a fireman since I was 14 years old, literally all the way through,” Dickey said. “I was a paramedic for 10 years in Wisconsin; law enforcement for nine years, where I grew up.”
“We’re glad you’ve got all that experience,” King said.
The commissioners will discuss the transition, including the salary, he said.
