Project Guardian employees introduced
Ray County Hospital and Healthcare announced the addition of two community health workers to the Transformation of Rural Community Health (ToRCH) pilot program -- Maggie Greenwood and Ashley Thompson, both led by Executive Director Tim Braun.
Greenwood began her healthcare career as an Emergency Medical Technician immediately after high school. After earning a bachelor’s degree in health science, she completed her internship at Care Beyond the Boulevard, an organization that provides free, high-quality medical care to homeless individuals in the Kansas City area.
“It started with a nurse practitioner providing free healthcare to the homeless population from the back of her pickup truck,” said Greenwood. “I got to see more of the community aspect because, in addition to offering free healthcare, she collaborates with social workers and has partnered with the dental school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City; her program has evolved into a more comprehensive service.
