Pendleton reports on cemetery maintenance

It has been over two years since Megan Pendleton started working on Shotwell and Richmond cemeteries. In that time, she has experienced some ups and downs, from trying to determine the ownership of the Richmond cemetery to fighting robust poison ivy at Shotwell. Through it all, her main goal has been the maintenance and preservation of these final resting places. Everyone has hobbies they enjoy, and for Pendleton, it’s upkeeping cemeteries. At nearly 10 years old, Pendleton found herself helping her grandfather and father maintain their families’ gravesites and headstones. Enjoying the calmness of a cemetery, she said taking care of your loved ones doesn’t stop after they pass, and upkeep of their plot is a way of caring for them. “I’m knowledgeable on preservation, headstone repair and maintenance, resetting, overall cemetery maintenance and care, the whole nine yards,” she said. “When I drove through a few years ago, I was absolutely shocked that Shotwell and Richmond cemeteries…
