Parent as Teachers program growing

The Parent as Teachers Program has experienced a surge in enrollment this school year, providing critical support and resources to families across the district. The program featured at the March Richmond School Board meeting provides free developmental screenings, home visits and community events, acting as a lifeline for parents confronting early childhood challenges. “Enrollment has soared, to say the least, which we are super happy about,” said Family Engagement Specialist Jessica Leeds. “It was with great excitement that we added Melissa Hopkins as another parent educator this year and she has been nothing short of a Godsend.” The program’s group connections, held at least monthly, unite families for activities, story times and partnerships with community organizations like the local health department.
