A group effort can create a ripple effect that travels miles. Because of Mike Karl’s spirit and Spartan pride this past football season, a football signed by Richmond football seniors was gifted to him on Christmas. The special gift was from his family and his girlfriend, Jaynice Williams, directed the fun scheme with her daughter, Maddie Prom. Karl said he did not know the football players cared about his presence at the time, but upon opening the package, he drew tears of happiness. He has a memorabilia shelf in his home with awards and signed helmets from over the years — Karl said the signed football is going right in with it. “I guess all the Richmond boys said they were excited to sign it for me,” he said. “This might not mean a lot to some people, but it means a lot to me. It really touched my heart.” Karl went to each football game this past season.
