OHS grads gear up for changes after high school
Life is about to change for the Orrick High School class of 2023.
That message popped up a few times Sunday afternoon, when Orrick held its commencement ceremony in the high school gym. Those who explored that theme included members of the graduating class. Others included current and former faculty/ staff members, who did so by reading from a best-selling children’s book.
Reflecting on her final year of high school during her Latin honor student address, Ava Lafferty described it as “different, to say the least.” As Lafferty pointed out, there were changes in staff members; thus, she and her senior classmates saw “only some of the familiar faces” they had seen their three previous years of high school, she said.
“We should think of this as a learning experience for when we step into the real world with completely new people,” she said. “As you know, we won’t be around the same people for the rest of our lives. Not only will the people change; the environment will, too. This year…
