No charges filed in two major cases

HOMESTEAD VILLAGE – No charges have been filed in two highprofile cases in Ray County – one involving possible theft of government money by a public official and the other involving a shooting death. Ray County Prosecutor Camille Johnston said both cases remain under review. The possible corruption case has been pending since December. The possible case following the shooting death has been pending since March 23. MISSING MONEY Following a nearly two-year investigation prompted by a community petition, Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway’s office sent a letter Dec. 13 to Ray County Prosecutor Camille Johnston detailing reasons to suspect about $4,348 had gone missing on Homestead Village Clerk Marla Berndt’s watch. In late February, Johnston said she had not “heard anything” from Galloway about the investigation.
