National 911 Public Safety Telecommunications Week celebrated

In light of last week’s National 911 Public Safety Telecommunications Week, Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Johnston decided to spread kindness to local 911 dispatch. Johnston and the Ray County Prosecuting office took it upon themselves to gift donuts, flowers, gift cards and decals to the Ray County 911 Dispatch team. More than 35,000 people die each year in traffic crashes and the number would likely be higher if not for the 911 call center. This is one of the reasons that the National 911 Program is housed in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Office of Emergency Medical Services, according to nhtsa.gov. When calling 911, the telecommunicators provide help over the phone, and also assists in getting help to your location. “I wanted to do something to show how much we appreciated their hard work.
