Mental health awareness spread at local event

With the goal of raising awareness for first responders’ mental health and selfcare, an event was recently hosted by Project Hero Foundation and Branded Steakhouse in Richmond. Co-founders of the nonprofit foundation, president Tobi Lackey and secretary Tammy Folvarcik, felt it was important to recognize first responders during National Mental Health Awareness Month. “This is huge to me, personally. Just knowing people care about the first responders. Every single day I worry about them,” said Folvarcik. “We raised over $2,000. I am grateful and humbled.” Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers spoke about mental health for first responders. “I want people to know it’s okay to talk about mental health. Many struggle with mental health and as first responders – we see tragedies daily,” said Childers.
