Max Motors purchases Swafford Ford

Swafford Ford is changing ownership. After 67 years under the Swafford family’s leadership, the local Ford dealership will soon be managed by Max Motors LLC. Rob Swafford, vice-president of Swafford Ford, addressed the Richmond City Council Tuesday evening with the announcement. The council voted to transfer ownership of the Chapter 100 Industrial Development Plan from Swafford Trustmark to Max Motors LLC as part of the business purchase. During council discussion, Swafford introduced Bob Jacaway, Max Motors president and CEO, and shared some thoughts on the transition, which begins July 18. “It’s a bittersweet moment for our family,” Swafford said. “There’s consolidation happening in different industries of all sizes and scale, and obviously, we are experiencing that a little bit in automotive as well.” Swafford recalled that his family has been involved with Ford for 67 years, beginning with his grandfather, who worked for Ford when he was still in high school. “It’s been 29…
