Mask mandate remains in face of state lawsuit
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed an antimask, class-action lawsuit last week that could affect the Excelsior Springs School District’s mask mandate.
The district continues to enforce a mask mandate in schools.
Because of the pending litigation, district Superintendent Travis Hux declined comment Tuesday.
On the same day, Schmitt tweeted: “We are at a crossroads. The Left is obsessed with peddling fear so government can control more & more aspects of your life. Conservatives want you to have the information, the facts and the science so you are empowered to make decisions for yourself.”
Schmitt is among several Republicans running to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt.
The nation’s leading health experts under former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden have urged the public to wear masks, social distance and get vaccinated based on facts and science.
