Mary Elizabeth (Beth) McGinnis Hughes was born on July 25, 1940, to James and Viola (Mallory) Mc Ginnis of Henrietta. She went to her heavenly home on Jan. 4, 2023. She was united in marriage to Doyle (Ed) Hughes of Oklahoma City on Feb. 19, 1966, at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta. She is survived by her husband of 56 years; daughters, Shannon (Steve) Cox and Piper (Ron) Peterson; grandsons, Kyle (Allison) Cox and Matt (Linzy) Peterson; granddaughters, Kecia (Dwayne) Whitley and Melissa Genson (Megan Keller); and the loves of her life, Kayden Cox, Karsyn Cox, Jaxx Whitley, Anistyn Whitley, Caleb Whitley, Kinsey Peterson, Xander Peterson, Ellie Peterson, Finn Keller-Novelli, Shay Keller-Novelli; her brother, Phillip (Judi) McGinnis; niece, Alyson (Zac) Crane; nephews, Jeff (Amy) Harlin, Todd Harlin and Jim (Laquita) Clay; sisters by choice, Sheryl Franklin and Francine Cheshewalla-Parsons; her other mother, Pauline Karl; and all of the Marrant-Eldredge family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Howard McGinnis; sister, Carol Jean (Richard) Harlin; nephews, Jimmy Charles Harlin and Andy Clay; and sisters by choice, Patsy Patterson and Judy Kuntz.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Ray County Humane Society. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, in Richmond Memory Gardens. A celebration of life event will follow graveside services from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Branded Steakhouse, Community Room, 708 Wollard Blvd., Richmond.
