Local women recognized during Women’s History Month

Ray County celebrates Women’s History Month by recognizing local women. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the U.S. in the month of March in since 1987. Through a recent Richmond News questionnaire, area residents were asked to submit the name of their “shero” along with the reason they were chosen. The six local women recognized were Sunrise Elementary teacher Miranda Taylor, Ray County Museum Director Cathy Gottsch, Ray County 911 Director Kim Davis, Richmond R-XVI School District staffer Tammy Kugler, Ray County 911 staffer Jeanie Watkins and Richmond Newspaper Advertising Consultant and General Manager Sharon Donat. To be nominated, these women had to have touched the hearts of local people. Nominators remain anonymous. Taylor was described as amazing, hardworking and passionate as a fifth-grade teacher and woman at Sunrise Elementary in Richmond. Gottsch was described as brave,…
