Lawson, Polo students explore agriculture with Ag Moves
Students across Missouri are discovering how deeply agriculture shapes daily lives through Missouri Farmers Care’s Agriculture Education on the Move™ (Ag Moves) program. Lawson FFA members are leading Lawson Middle School students, while Polo FFA members are teaching Polo Elementary students, using hands-on lessons that connect food, fuel, fiber and farming to the classroom.
Ag Moves is a proactive, 10-week educational program that helps students explore crops, livestock, soil and water conservation, nutrition and agricultural careers. The STEM-based curriculum aligns with Missouri standards in science, math, social studies and language arts. Each lesson includes an activity such as creating soybean germination necklaces, making corn plastic, preparing butter, developing feed rations or constructing soil profiles. Through these projects, students learn about Missouri farm families and the work farmers and ranchers do throughout the year.
